Giahsa will open food collection points at its offices in Aljaraque and La Palma del Condado between November 13 and 30. Anyone who visits those facilities during those dates can take part, as well as the company's staff.

What food is needed

Non-perishable, easy-to-store food is mainly requested. The list indicated by the Banco de Alimentos de Huelva includes pulses, oil, milk, sugar, flour, rice and pasta. These are products the organisation regularly seeks in its Operaciones Kilo because they do not usually arrive as surplus.

A financial contribution that adds to it

The campaign has a second component: Giahsa will give the Banco de Alimentos an amount of money equivalent to the volume of food collected. According to the company, this extends the reach of the collection and contributes to the work the organisation carries out with people and families in vulnerable situations in the province.

In the middle of the Gran Recogida

The collection starts the same weekend as the Gran Recogida 2026 of the Banco de Alimentos de Huelva, scheduled for November 13 and 14 at supermarkets and collaborating establishments in the province. The organisation has this year called on the people of Huelva in the face of falling donations and the difficulties many families continue to face. The Banco de Alimentos de Huelva is a non-profit association founded in 1999 and declared of Public Utility in 2013. It collects and stores food from surplus and donations from companies, individuals and public bodies, and distributes it through social canteens and other assistance organisations among people in situations or at risk of social exclusion in Huelva and its province.

What to do

Simply take the food to Giahsa's offices in Aljaraque or La Palma del Condado between November 13 and 30. The campaign is open to workers and to those who visit those facilities. The agreement was finalised at a meeting at the head office in Aljaraque between the vice-president of the Banco de Alimentos de Huelva, José Luis López-Niño, and the executive director of Giahsa, Santiago Ponce, together with the deputy director of Human Resources, María Dolores Camacho. Ponce has stated that the collaboration makes it possible to «transfer the company's commitment to public service to the social sphere».
