The Local Health Plan of Aracena has resumed its programme after the summer break with around twenty activities spread across October, November and December. The initiatives, promoted by all the council departments of the Ayuntamiento, seek to improve the health conditions of the population of the municipality and its villages.

Workshops and routes in November

In November the activities will revolve around the Day against Gender Violence, with a workshop on emotional independence for women victims of gender violence and another on care for people with Alzheimer's for home-resident workers. On Sunday 15 a hiking route is planned for the whole family. On Thursday 19, the Hogar del Pensionista will host a workshop on the shopping basket and reading nutritional labels, and on Friday 27 there will be a prevention training session aimed at young people aged 12 to 17.

December: photography, discussion and Children's Fair

In December activities have been scheduled around the Day of Functional Diversity. On the 4th there will be a night and long-exposure photography workshop for young people aged 12 to 17. On the 10th the discussion «Ansiedad y depresión, ¿la epidemia de nuestra época?» will be held in the Salón de Actos Municipal de la Plaza de Doña Elvira, and on the 18th a participation and volunteering workshop. To close the month, the Feria de la Infancia y la Juventud will be held on the 28th, 29th and 30th at the Recinto Ferial.

Permanent activities

Alongside these specific events, the plan includes permanent activities such as the Memory Workshop for older people, the Escuela Municipal de Familias, the Escuelas Deportivas Municipales, Gymnastics for older people and the programmes of the Centro de Salud and the Centro Municipal de Información a la Mujer.

A fifteen-year programme

According to the Ayuntamiento, this four-year programme has been consolidated over the last fifteen years as a way of bringing health closer to citizens' daily lives. The councillor for Health, Rafael Rodríguez, states that «no piensa exclusivamente en un grupo de edad, sino que se amplía a toda la ciudadanía», and defends municipal policies for health promotion and healthy habits.
