The Parish of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores hosted this Saturday, October 17, the second concert of the XXXIX Festival Coral del Atlántico. The Coral Municipal de Miajadas, arriving from Cáceres, and the Coral Al-Bojaira de Cájar, from Granada, were the groups in charge of the evening, presented by the young Isla Cristina native María José Martín Contreras.

Two repertoires and two conductors

The Coral Municipal de Miajadas opened the night under the direction of Juan Antonio Loro Acedo, with a liturgical and popular repertoire in which works such as «Signore delle Cime», by Giuseppe de Marzi, and the «Misa Brevis», by Antonio Lotti, were performed, among other compositions. Then the Coral Al-Bojaira de Cájar took over, directed by Mariló Beas Cobos, with pieces such as «Señor, me cansa la vida», «Ave Verum Corpus» and Caccini's «Ave María».

Presentation of the festival emblem

The Councillor for Culture, Jerónimo Sosa, presented the festival emblem to the two choirs and thanked them for their participation, which according to his words makes it greater «even more so with their voices». He also congratulated them for their performances and for their contribution to a night of gathering and enjoyment of choral music in Isla Cristina. The concert was attended by the deputy mayor and delegated councillor for Culture, Jerónimo Sosa, and the councillor Mateo J. Rodríguez, representing the Ayuntamiento. The priest Javier García was also present, who had already accompanied the audience at the opening concert on Friday, October 16, along with conductors and members of the local choirs.
