Monday, November 2 is a public holiday in Andalusia and Huelva has a long weekend from Saturday the 31st to Monday. We review what is known about La Soledad cemetery and the Emtusa buses, La Morana's Terrifying Week and the chestnuts from the Sierra.
Sunday, November 1 is All Saints' Day and Monday, November 2 is a public holiday throughout Andalusia, according to the Junta's 2026 work calendar. Huelva thus has a three-day long weekend, from Saturday, October 31 to Monday, November 2, with visits to the La Soledad cemetery, the terrifying Halloween week and the chestnuts of the Sierra.
The La Soledad cemetery
As of October 22, the Huelva City Council had not published this year's special schedule for the La Soledad cemetery or the bus service. The cemetery's winter hours are from 8:00 to 18:30, and on these days the City Council extends them; in 2023 it opened from 8:00 to 19:00.
Emtusa, the municipal bus company, provides a special service to the cemetery on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1 and Monday, November 2, for 1.50 euros per trip (the bonobús is valid). It leaves from Zafra at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 16:30 and 17:30, and returns from the cemetery at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 17:00 and 18:00. Ordinary lines 3 and 4 reach the cemetery only on working Thursdays and on Sundays and public holidays, at fixed times. The City Council has not yet published this year's visiting hours.
There are flower stalls in the area.
What opens and what closes
Monday, November 2 is a public holiday in every respect: banks and public offices close and urban buses run on a public holiday schedule. Shops may open: Monday, November 2 is one of the 16 Sundays and public holidays with authorized opening in Andalusia in 2026, according to the Junta's Order of June 23, 2025 (BOJA number 121). Each shop decides whether to open. Open pharmacies can be checked on our duty pharmacies page: /farmacias-de-guardia.
Halloween: the terrifying week at La Morana
The City Council is organizing a new terrifying week from October 29 to 31 at the La Morana Municipal Centre, free and aimed at young people:
—Thursday 29, at 19:00: Halloween concert by Comborock, the municipal band programme directed by John Conde, with six groups and tributes to Ozzy Osbourne, Evanescence and Dio. Free entry until full capacity of 150 people.
—Friday 30, from 18:30 to 20:30 and from 21:30 to 23:30, and Saturday 31, from 18:00 to 21:00: the House of Terror, set this year in a psychiatric centre, occupies the three floors of La Morana with six scenes and more than 20 extras. Groups are of five people and enter every five minutes with a guide. It is free for those over 7, with limited passes. The City Council estimates that around 1,000 people will pass through.
It is organized by the Youth department and the Ceija and Inku Sen associations, with the support of Avant Garde Producciones.
Chestnuts in the Sierra
The long weekend coincides with the chestnut season in the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, where the chestnut grove covers a good part of the hills of Castaño del Robledo, Fuenteheridos, Galaroza, Jabugo and Los Marines. In many villages of the Sierra, Tosantos is celebrated with tostones, chestnuts roasted outdoors. Galaroza has an autumn programme under way with the Diputación de Huelva that runs until January, and Aracena plans its charity tostón on Saturday 31, from 20:00 to 23:00, in the plaza de San Pedro (the City Council has not yet announced it). Niebla celebrates its Real Feria de Tosantos from October 30 to November 2, with a livestock fair, Exponiebla and a Medieval Fair in the castle.
The province
The Lepe cemetery is open until Monday, November 2, from 9:30 to 20:30 without closing, every day. Almonte, Moguer, Isla Cristina, Ayamonte, Punta Umbría and Aracena had not published their special hours as of October 28; last year Punta Umbría opened from 9:00 to 20:00 and Ayamonte from 9:00 to 18:00, without closing at midday. It is advisable to check each city council's channels before going.
