Christmas arrives in the province of Huelva on Friday, November 27, when the Beas Living Nativity opens its doors again. It is the oldest in Andalusia and, for more than fifty years, the one that announces the festivities in the towns of Huelva. At this point almost nothing else has an official date for 2026. Town councils usually present their programs at the end of November. We first tell you the little that is already confirmed and, for the rest, what was done last year in the capital and in a dozen towns, so you know what to expect.

From November 27: the oldest living nativity in Andalusia

The Hermandad de Nuestra Señora la Virgen de los Clarines has been setting up the 56th edition of the Beas Living Nativity since the beginning of October, and it will be inaugurated on Friday, November 27. It was born at Christmas 1970, when the brotherhood was looking for money to repair the Clarines sanctuary after the earthquake the previous year, and today it is an Event of Tourist Interest of Andalusia and Gold Medal of the Province. The whole town throws itself into it: the residents bring the scenes to life in an enclosure that reproduces at human scale the nativity scenes of the houses, with hills, waterfalls, houses and caves. The brotherhood has not yet published this year's calendar of days, opening hours or prices. Be careful with what circulates on the internet: some websites still give last year's opening, November 29.

The Beas Nativity in 2025

  • It opened on Saturday, November 29 and closed on Sunday, January 4.
  • It opened on weekends, the December long weekend (6, 7 and 8), Christmas Day and January 1.

January 5: the Huelva Parade is already looking for participants

The Huelva Three Kings Parade will set out on Tuesday, January 5, 2027, and the Town Council has already opened the period for children to take part as participants. Those who are between 5 and 12 years old on the day of the Parade, who were born or live in the capital and who have not taken part before can sign up. Registration is done in person until Monday, November 9, from 10:00 to 13:00, at the Concejalía de Cultura, in the Pabellón de Poniente of the Casa Colón. Siblings who sign up together enter the draw with a single number. The public draw will be on Tuesday, December 1 at 12:30 at the Gran Teatro, and each child will be accompanied in the parade by an adult who must attend a safety talk on Tuesday, December 15. Here you have all the details. The time and the route will be known later. Last year, the Kings arrived on January 4 at the Muelle de las Canoas to collect the letters and went in procession, on camels, to the Town Council. The Heraldo Real toured the streets on the 3rd to receive the keys to the city, and the Parade ended on the 5th at the doors of the Town Council.

In the capital, what there was last year

The Huelva Town Council has not yet presented Christmas 2026. Last year it did so on November 26, with the slogan «Huelva, la Navidad con corazón», two days before the switching on of the lights. This is what there was in 2025:

Christmas 2025 in Huelva capital

  • Switching on: on Friday, November 28 at 19:00, coinciding with Black Friday, with a parade headed by Cristóbal Colón from the Town Council to the plaza de las Monjas. The lights reached more than 160 streets and squares.
  • Light and sound show on the Gran Vía and the plaza de la Constitución: from November 28 to January 3. Shows at 18:30 and 19:30 on weekdays, and also at 20:30 on Fridays, Saturdays, holidays and eves.
  • Christmas Market in the plaza de las Monjas: from November 28 to December 24, and afterwards an Artisan Market until January 5. Monday to Friday, from 17:00 to 21:00; weekends and holidays, also from 11:00 to 14:00.
  • Santa Claus's House and Estafeta Real, also in the plaza de las Monjas, from November 28 to January 3.
  • Christmas Sweets and Wines Show in the arcades of the Gran Vía, from December 11 to 14, and afterwards a show of oil, preserves and cheeses from the province, from December 15 to 17.
  • Ice rink in the plaza del Antiguo Estadio Colombino, from December 6, from 11:00 to 21:00.
  • Children's rides in the plaza de La Soledad and El Punto, from November 28 to January 5. On some days, those of La Soledad operated without music for the children who need it.
  • Snowfalls in the neighborhoods: El Matadero, Molino de la Vega and Pérez Cubillas, at 18:00.
  • Christmas tourist train from the Casa Colón and Pre-uvas in the plaza del Antiguo Estadio on December 30.

The capital also has its route of nativity scenes. The municipal one, the work of Antonio Quiñones, is set up in the Patio del Ayuntamiento; last year it opened from December 4 to January 4, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00. In the Santa Fe space there was another, made entirely with Playmobil figures. And many brotherhoods open theirs: the Nazareno in the plaza de las Monjas, the Perdón in the parish of Santa Teresa, the Prendimiento in that of Carmen, the Descendimiento in San Pedro, the Misericordia on calle Rábida and the Calvario, el Prado and las Tres Caídas in their chapels and brotherhood houses.

Living nativities of the province

Beas is the only one that has already set a date. The rest are usually announced at the end of November. This is how they were last year:

Living nativities in 2025

  • Corrales (Aljaraque): the Asociación Cultural Belén en Corrales sets up a Hebrew village of more than 3,000 square metres with some 200 residents and 31 scenes. It opened on Saturdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 December, from 17:30 to 21:00, and on Sundays 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 11:30 to 14:00. There was also a Christmas market with twelve stalls in the plaza Rutherford. This year it will unveil a new building for the dancers, as we report here.
  • El Rocío (Almonte): the third edition of the nativity scene by the Asociación Belén Viviente Aldea del Rocío was set up in the Carmen López sports centre. It opened from 6 to 21 December, at weekends and over the long weekend, from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00.
  • Galaroza: it is the only open-air living nativity scene in the province, around the ermita de Santa Brígida, and it only opens if the weather allows. It is organised by the Cabalgata and Belén associations, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in December and the first week of January, from 18:30 to 20:30, except Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Last year it began on 5 December.
  • Puerto Moral: more than a hundred residents bring scenes such as the carpentry workshop, the cheese shop and the wool workshop to life. In 2025 it moved to a new site, in the recreational area of the Barranco de la Madrona, and opened from 5 to 7 December, with free entry and a collection box for voluntary donations.
  • Higuera de la Sierra: the nativity scene by the Asociación Cabalgata, which raises funds for the Three Kings parade, was set up in the gardens of El Charcón on 5, 6 and 7 December, from 17:00 to 20:00, at 2 euros for adults and 1 euro for children.
  • Mazagón: the Belén Viviente opened on Saturday 6 December on the plot at the Faro, after a parade with more than a hundred participants.

Lights, markets and zambombas in the villages

The town councils are preparing their programmes. Last year it was like this:

Christmas 2025 in the villages

  • Moguer and Mazagón: the «Brilla Moguer» programme kicked off on Thursday 4 December with the switching-on of the lights in both centres and the opening of the nativity scenes in the arcades of the Ayuntamiento and of the Mancomunidad. Moguer has the only Christmas parade in the province, on 25 December, and the Gran Burrada in tribute to Platero, with children riding donkeys, which was on 21 December. On 30 December it held its New Year's Eve rehearsal party in the plaza del Cabildo.
  • Ayamonte: lights switched on on Friday 28 November at 19:30 in the plaza de la Laguna, about ten zambombas around the neighbourhoods and fairground rides on the paseo de la Ribera at 2 euros on children's days. The Three Kings arrived by boat from Portugal on 4 January, and on the 5th there was a parade from Canela and the Gran Tirada from the balcony of the Ayuntamiento.
  • Lepe: eight zambombas around the neighbourhoods from 1 to 17 December and the Estación Navidad park, in the parque de la Estación, from 13 December to 1 January, with Father Christmas and a post office.
  • Bollullos Par del Condado: lights switched on on Friday 5 December on the avenida de la Coronación, with buñuelos and chestnuts from 18:00, and four zambombas over the festivities.
  • Aracena: the Mercado del Queso Artesano filled the December long weekend, from 5 to 8, with 27 cheesemakers from Spain and Portugal and tastings every day.

Three Kings parades more than a hundred years old in the sierra

In Higuera de la Sierra, the night of 5 January has a special flavour. Its Cabalgata de Reyes Magos has been held since 1918, it is the second oldest in Spain and a Fiesta de Interés Turístico de Andalucía. Residents become biblical characters and recreate scenes from Jesus's childhood on the floats, still as statues even when it is cold or raining. Every year it fills the village with visitors.
