The Gran Teatro de Huelva will host the ninth edition of the Festival Artístico para la Diversidad on Thursday, December 3, from 19:30, organised by ETHOS Centro para la Diversidad. On stage will be the centre's students, the Asociación de Mayores Andariego y Jubilados, the dance group of the Asociación Voces del Conquero and the theatre groups Los Magnífiques and Los Teotreros.
The gala will combine music, dance, theatre and poetry, and will feature sign language interpretation. It will be presented by Antonio Sánchez, Yedra María Cruz, Pablo Sánchez and Francisco J. Ballesteros. People with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and spina bifida will take part, performing alongside other artists and groups from the city.
Three musical premieres
One of the central moments will be the premiere of «Navidad en Huelva», a song performed by users of the centre with and without functional diversity, with music by David Núñez and lyrics by Eva Jiménez, both music teachers at ETHOS. The song will have a video, made by NR Producciones. There will also be two other premieres: «Qué bonito es vivir», by Pepe Luna, and «El amor de mi vida», by Darío González, two students of the centre whose songs have been composed by David Núñez within ETHOS's musical creation projects.
Tickets in exchange for food
The event is charitable in nature. Everything collected in the form of food and hygiene products will go to Cáritas Diocesana de Huelva to support families in situations of vulnerability. The goal of this edition is to exceed the more than 1,000 kilos of food collected the previous year.
To get the invitations, two kilos of non-perishable food and one cleaning product must be handed in at the headquarters of ETHOS Centro para la Diversidad, where tickets are collected.
The festival has been held since 2017. In recent years it has incorporated the charitable dimension, linking the cultural event with support for social organisations. The deputy mayor of Servicios Sociales, Familia, Empleo, Vivienda y Desarrollo Económico, Adela de Mora, has stated that the goal is «to give visibility to the diversity that exists in our society and promote equality».
