The zambombas of Huelva now have dates. The fourth edition of the Ruta de las Zambombas will be held on December 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 16 plazas and parks in the city, as announced by the Ayuntamiento de Huelva. Entities wishing to take part have until November 16 to submit their application.
The deadline is open to hermandades and associations that organise zambombas. Documentation is sent by registry through the municipal electronic office. The rules and the necessary documents can be downloaded from the Ayuntamiento website, in the Participación Ciudadana area, under the Solicitud de Actividades section.
The planned locations are Paseo Santa Fe, Plaza de las Soleares, Plaza Colombina, Plaza de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Plaza de Santo Cristo del Perdón, Plaza de las Carretas, Plaza Barrio Obrero, Plaza Niña, Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza de la Merced, Plaza León Ortega, Plaza Santa Raquel, Plaza Nuestra Señora del Pilar, Parque de la Luz, Plaza de Lino and Plaza de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores.
Once the applications have been received, the Consistorio will distribute the entities among the different dates and locations. The zambombas will be governed by the rules established by the Ayuntamiento for this activity, which seeks to bring the Christmas spirit to all the neighbourhoods and foster fellowship between hermandades and associations. The proceeds go to charitable causes.
The councillor for Participación Ciudadana, Manuel Jesús Soriano, has said that the route seeks for «all the neighbourhoods of our city to become this Christmas a place of celebration and fellowship».
To take part, documentation must be sent by registry through the municipal electronic office before November 16. The rules and forms are available on the municipal website, in the Participación Ciudadana area, Solicitud de Actividades section.
